Proper planning and organization are the benchmark of every construction project. But the skills of a General Contractor are challenged when the project relates to the ongoing operations of a trauma center and surgical hospital. Such was the case when SBS was awarded the contract for installation of a complete exterior at TGMC as well as renovations to the lobby, stairways and entrance area.
Replacement of over 300 windows and installation of a complete new “skin” on the hospital required each opening to be specially sealed in accordance with TGMC’s infectious control policy to avoid any airborne bacteria or dust from entering the facility. SBS was required to coordinate all work with medical and administrative personnel to ensure the “envelope” of the building was not compromised at any time. Patients needed to be relocated and operations of the hospital adjusted throughout the project.
Demolition, Windows, Stucco, Storefront Glass, CMU Towers. All the construction aspects of this 100,000 square foot facility were the easy part. Completion under the watchful eye of TGMC administrative, maintenance and medical staff was the challenge handled without incident throughout the project by the experienced SBS Team.
